Mixed Doubles & Stick Curling Bonspiel March 23/24, 2018
Our closing bonspiel will take a new format this year. The Peace River Curling Club invites you to the Mixed Doubles & Stick Curling Bonspiel March 23 & 24th, 2018. The Mixed Doubles and Stick Curling Bonspiels will be separate events happening over the same weekend at the club. The entry fee is $100 per team.
MIXED DOUBLES
Mixed Doubles is played with two players - one man and one woman. The first player throws the first and fifth stones, and the second player throws the second, third and fourth stones. Each end starts with two rocks already in play - the team with the hammer has a rock on the back button, and the team without the hammer has a centre line guard. Teams get one 'powerplay' per game where they can move these pre-positioned rocks to one side of the house, which leaves the button open. Teams can only use their powerplay when they have the hammer.

STICK CURLING
- 2 Person Game only has two players.
- Sweeping only allowed from the hog line in, through the house.
- A player at each end, one skipping and one delivering.
- Players are not allowed to go past the middle of the sheet so partners wanting to discuss a shot have to meet at center ice. This dramatically reduces time spent in discussion and results in a faster moving game.
- Each player stays at one end for the entire game. Players deliver more rocks than they would in a regular game and they get to skip half the game. Both players have equal opportunity and responsibility, there is continuous activity throughout the game.
- Each player delivers six rocks per end. Games are just six ends!
- Three rock rule. Free guard zone.
