2023-2024 Recap

Another fantastic year in the books! This year we had 8 successful bonspiels (which included the Oilmen’s making their long awaited return as well as a Junior’s Bonspiel) and we ran 5 league nights (Monday Men’s, Wednesday Men’s, Wednesday Juniors, Thursday Ladies, and Friday Mixed) as well as Learn to Curl on Tuesdays.๐ŸฅŒ

We were also fortunate enough to host the Club Championships in March. Both our Peace River men’s and women’s teams won that event and were able to attend the Curling Alberta Club Championship Provincials in Airdrie. It might not have been the outcomes either team had hoped for, however, we are beyond delighted to announce our women’s team Team Swicheniuk finished 2nd at provincials!! The team faced a tough final against Team Thistle #2 (who they went extra ends with in round robin). Way to go ladies!! We are so proud! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅˆ

We’d like to send out a thank you to Toby, Dave and Damien our ice techs for doing the ice this year. They do a fantastic job ensuring the ice is in top shape for all our leagues and events which isn’t an easy task at times. To our wall, in-ice, and event/prize sponsors, thank you for always showing such amazing support for our club. Keeping a curling club operating is quite costly and we couldn’t do it without the sponsors who help every year! Thank you to Lemon Social for coming and creating some epic videos at the club this season to promote us. We heard such great feedback about them and we are looking forward to working with you again next year! A huge thank you to our volunteers, especially all our dedicated board members. Running a curling club is not for the faint of heart, but we have built a team of incredible people who work great together to keep our doors open. Last but certainly not least, our AMAZING members. Without all of you showing up weekly for leagues as well as entering teams into our bonspiels, our club wouldn’t be as successful as it is. The memories made inside our club will last a lifetime and we cannot wait to see you all back out on the ice in the Fall!
Make sure you are following our page for exciting updates happening over the next few months.

End of 2022-2023 season

Yet another incredible curling season has sadly come to an end. This season was certainly one for the books! We had our 80th anniversary at the beginning of the season, started a sturling curling league and then hosted our very first sturling bonspiel, as well as hosted a junior bonspiel which hasn’t happened in many years. This season wouldn’t have been possible without all of the volunteers on our board, countless sponsors, our ice techs, cleaning staff, bar manager and staff, league reps, junior coaches, Tammy and her staff, and most importantly our amazing members!! Can’t wait to see you all out on the ice next season.
Sidenote: we still have some raffle tickets for sale for the WestJet flight and cash! If you’d like a book to sell, or would like to buy some, please let us know!

80th Anniversary Bonspiel

What a spectacular weekend at the 80th anniversary bonspiel! Thank you to all of the event sponsors, those who donated door prizes, the Ford family, Mayor Elaine Manzer (Town of Peace River), Reeve Corinna Williams (Northern Sunrise County), Councillor Gary These (County of Northern Lights), Tammy Moore catering, DJ Tyler, organizers, ice techs, bartenders, cleaning staff and last but certainly not least, ALL of the spectators and curlers who came out this weekend. There were 20 teams in the advanced division and 4 in the beginner. Without your participation this weekend, the bonspiel wouldn’t have been the success that it was. Sponsorship Opportunity

EXCITING NEWS!! ๐Ÿ“ฃ

We have a great opportunity to have your name/business on our new TV's!! ๐Ÿ“บ
The PRCC will be replacing the 10 TV's in our club with a 32" flat screen on each ice surface upstairs and downstairs this summer. We are first reaching out to our loyal members to see if anyone is interested in sponsoring a TV for $500. This would purchase the TV, include installation, and a plaque showing your sponsorship. It can be one name, family name, 4 member team with names, a business name etc. The plaques will be up for at least 5 years. TV's will be installed before the start of our 2022 - 2023 season.
Please email hvedress@telus.net on or before July 29th, 2022 with your request and etransfers can be made to bookkeeper.prcurling@gmail.com. Or cheques can be mailed to Peace River Curling Club, Box 7107, Peace River, Alberta, T8S1S8.
When emailing, please indicate what sheet you are interested in and if you would like upstairs or downstairs. Also, indicate what name you would like to have on the plaque. If we have more than one request on a certain TV, it would come down to the 1st paid sponsor.
REMEMBER IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED!! First paid gets first dibs.
We hope everyone is having a great summer and we can't wait to see you in the fall! ๐ŸฅŒ
